Well, if you got our last update you saw that we have had to do some new things since coming here. Mainly figuring out that not all car batteries are self maintaining and having to clean out the well in front of our house that holds our water. I thought that I would put some more pictures on here so that perhaps everyone can gain a better appreciation of how we spent last weekend.
Isn't Roger just all manly? Opening up the hood of the car and playing with the battery? I was proud of him and he even got grease on his hands. He had to take something off of the battery and fill it up with distilled water and then put it back together again.
So, for our other adventure, the cleaning of the well. We first had to empty out all of the water, which was fun. We ran through the house, turned on the shower, all of the sinks and flushed the toilets.
Here you can see the well, it wasn't too dirty, but there were some rocks and mud in the bottom and the sides were a little yellow/brown.
So, I started scrubbing. And don't worry, Roger helped plenty, but he also had to be the photographer to commemorate this event. I'm not exactly sure what we cleaned with, an old brush thing we found in the house and something that sort of looked like Comet and seemed to do the trick.
This would probably be the point when I decided I wasn't very brave, but too late, I was already in the hole. I went down and bailed out the rest of the water to Roger.
After most of the water was gone I got the dustpan and tried to get the dirt into it, that didn't really work at all, I just go really wet, so I got a towel and just wiped it up. After that we filled it back up, dumped in some chlorine to keep the bacteria/worms/animals at bay and went to take a shower. I couldn't help but think that the water in the shower felt a little cleaner after that.
