the big trip: part 1

Well, it is near midnight on January 1 and tomorrow is the big day! We are going to the field! This is such a confusing time, full of excitement and anticipation of what is waiting for us on the other side of the world, and at the same time we feel sad as we leave our friends and family behind. It is hard to imagine how much will change in the next few years.
Tonight we were able to get together with the CCBC crew for one last goodbye (I think we've managed to have like 4 goodbyes with them, but this one is for good.)

What a fun time of reminiscing about previous trips and talking of things to come. Thanks guys for a wonderful last night in da Ville.

As you can see all of our bags are packed and we are ready to travel. We hope to update this journal as we go, but that will depend on the availability of free wireless internet at the airports.
