I am happy to report that nothing too exciting has happened lately here in this wonderfully warm place. In fact, it has actually cooled off several days this week because of the rains. We have actually been a little cold! Of course this is relative, we are cold now when the temperature drops below 80 while we hear that everyone in Kentucky is suffering in 20 degree weather.
On Monday night we decided to stay home and cook dinner. Our first step was to go to the quasi-American (really it's Japanese) grocery store to get some supplies. We got there only to discover that they were out of chicken or at least out of the parts of the chicken that we would consider eating. They definitely had something that looked like chicken toes...
So we went to plan B: spaghetti. Fortunately we live in a big city and Prego and Ragu are widely available, although slightly expensive. We got everything we needed and as Roger paid for the groceries I went to the bread store and was able to find some fresh out of the oven garlic bread. Dinner was a success and we both felt as though we managed to sweat away any calories we may have gained eating by the time we cooked and cleaned up the kitchen.
In other news, the grocery store below our language school smells like garbage every day when we walk in. These spiky fruits are the culprit. They are called Durian and are wildly popular throughout Asia even though they smell like sewage, taste bad and are high in fat and calories. Yum!
