when it rains, it floods

Tonight we experienced our first true rainy season rainstorm. We were having dinner with friends when the rain started and soon the street in front of their house flooded. Our supervisor (who lives in our neighborhood) called to say the power was out and we started to worry that perhaps our house had flooded. After dinner and talking we saw that the road in front of their house was no longer flooded so we jumped in the Kijang and headed home.


Everything was fine until we turned on our street and saw that our road was flooded. Roger pulled the car up to our gate so I could get out without walking through the water and I unlocked the gate and he pulled in the car. We looked in the house and to our relief no flood! I don't know if the picture shows the flood very well.
Our next obstacles were the bugs. They all ran for higher ground during the flood. We have roaches, they are everywhere and we have almost used all of our bug spray. So, tonight please remember us and ask the Father to protect us and to make us brave because right now we are a little scared.


I also wanted to put this picture on here so that you can see that it's not all bad here. This is our outside plant that is continuing to bloom more and more everyday. And for us that is a major accomplishment!
