We are back from our vacation and have finally gotten unpacked and settled in. Roger is starting a new English class tomorrow and we are getting back into the swing of working and seeing all of our friends. Originally we thought we would be making a stop on the way back to The Islands for Roger to check out a new job, but it didn't work out.
We had a great time on our trip. Our first stop was Kuala Lumpur and the first thing we did when we got there was check out the Petronas Towers.
KL is a wonderful city! There are open spaces and grass and parks, we had a great time just walking around enjoying the scenery. At the bottom of these gigantic towers is a gigantic mall and in this mall there is a Chili's! We had a great time eating way too much that night!
After our meetings we went to Bangkok and of course Roger found us a great hotel with a great pool.
And we had a great view of the city from our hotel.
We spent out days going from mall to mall looking at things we couldn't afford and at night we would treat ourselves to wonderfully exotic food (Subway, Burger King, Outback...). We have several Thai friends that we went to school with in Louisville and they took us out for a night of eating and market shopping.
We love hanging out with them in Bangkok because they always know the best places to eat and shop.
We thought our great adventure was over after we boarded the plane to head back to our city, but we were wrong. We made it to the sky above our city when the pilot came over the intercom and told us this:
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I am sorry to tell you that there is a problem. The radar has failed so we will circle the city and wait to land."
The radar failed! Radars are definitely not supposed to do that! And if the radar has failed how are they keeping up with all of the planes in the sky? I think that whole speech should go in the "What Not To Say On An Airplane" category.
So, we circled (five times) and waited and Roger even saw a couple of other planes fly right by his window. the the pilot came back with another announcement"
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I am sorry to tell you that the radar is still broken and we are now low on fuel. We are going to Bali, but don't worry everything should be fine."
What?!?!?
So, off we went to Bali. The flight to Bali is normally 30-45 minutes long, we were on the ground 15 minutes later. Luckily after an hour and a half sitting on the runway in Bali our plane was refueled and the radar was fixed and so we did make it home (4 hours late).
What a trip! We are so glad to be back home!
