We have a saying in our house: When it rains, it floods.
During rainy season we mean this very literally. During hot season we use this in a more theoretical sense.
The past few weeks seem to be proving our theory correct.
About 2 months ago our water pump quit working for about the 10th time. That means no water in the house, no shower, no flushing toilet, no washing clothes. Luckily we got it fixed within two or three days.
Then about a month ago our water heater stopped working. This just meant no shower, we could still flush the toilet and wash clothes. In fact we could still bathe, we just had to do it downstairs behind the washing machine using a bucket. Luckily this was also a relatively easy problem to fix. Roger went to the store, bought a water heater and within another two or three days it was installed and working.
Then came last Tuesday. We went out. We came home. We heard gushing water upstairs. We blamed the cats for doing something. This is what we expected to see.
And this is what we saw. Where did you go Hot Water Heater?
Oh, there it is!
And then we laughed. Our brand new, actually gets the water hot and keeps it hot, hot water heater had fallen off the wall.
So, we laughed because really, what else could go wrong here? We turned off the water to the house. Back to no shower, no flushing, no hand washing. We called the plumber, he came and looked shocked and patched it up enough that we could turn the water back on and at least flush the toilets and wash the dishes.
The next day he came back and spent the entire day rebuilding our bathroom. He replaced pipes and electrical plugs and built a sturdy little shelf for the water heater to sit on. Then he hooked up the water heater. No hot water.
Our brand new luxurious hot water heater was broken. What a sad, sad day. Now we are waiting (so far for about 6 days) for the water heater to be repaired. Until then it's cold showers. Thank goodness it's hot inside and even hotter outside.
I'm still holding out hope that I will get a hot shower before Asher is born. If not, I hear the hospital has hot water...
