from our travels

We've gotten a little behind on our blogging, but now that we are back from Thailand we may be able to catch up. There's just been too much excitement lately. After we returned from Bali we had a group of volunteers join us for two weeks. I'm not really sure what all they did, but we accompanied them to one of East Java's biggest tourist attractions: Mount Bromo. Mount Bromo actually isn't that big(in the picture below it's the little gray hill to the left that's smoking), but it is an active volcano.

It was miserably cold (which was nice for a change), but the scenery was amazing. We got there super early for the sunrise and then actually went over and climbed Mt. Bromo. Below are some of our pictures from the day.

It was cold enough for hats and a fleece.

The sunrise was definitely worth the all night drive.

The family portrait.

Roger climbed a mountain and made an ad for Quest Outdoors.

We also had a great weekend with Stephen. He came down from Thailand to get a new visa and check out our city. Although there's not too much to do around here he was able to enjoy some of our city's finest corn and go to the House of Sampoerna, a cigarette factory where all the cigarettes are hand rolled.
